I see that MSD has discontinued the 8993 Top Fuel Tester. I was told that the 8998 (MSD's standard Ingnition, not Pro Mag) tester would work on the Pro Mag set up and 8973 box.

I just wanted to confirm if anyone has used a 8998 on a Pro Mag Set up.

    Thanks

I use the 8998 all the time on testing MSD 8973s with ProMags. It simulates a crank trigger input and makes the 8973 think it has the motor running. You can check shift lights, and retards. It will not test the ProMag 44 generator or Electronic Point Box only the 8973.

The tester is only to make the 8973 think that it has an RPM input. It would be no good on a Six Shooter that uses a timer.
