We run a Chevy 540 with a 1471HH. Right now we are running in the 3.90s with a MSD 20 and was thinking about running a MSD 44. Would we see a big increase in the amout of fuel that could be burnt and HP gained or would it stay about the same.
    Thanks for any info.

I believe the HP would be about the same, the ignition will just be more reliable, and it will run cleaner. How much timing are you running now, you might want to back that off a bit. Someone else on here might have more experience as to whether the tuneup will change or not.

I guess it depends on how much compression you are running, and boost. Typically, with a 44 amp mag, I would run a maximum of 28 degrees with a roots blower, but your compression shouldnt be more than about 11.2 to 1. If you are getting good boost (40+) and have higher compression, I wouldnt run more than 24 degrees.

Ken we are running a roots, the compession is 11.5 to 1. We are making 48# in the 1/8 and 52# was the most.

    Thanks TJ

We spin the blower faster to make the blower think it's got a hemi or promod motor underneath it

I'd venture to say that blower wouldn't make that much boost on a hemi head. More flow = less boost.

I agree. Measuring boost in the intake manifold is measuring boost of what is NOT flowing into the cylinders. Better flowing heads or a better cam will actually show a reduction in the amount of boost. Also, I might add that if you are shifting at 9600-9800 rpm then you are spinning that K-11 Superman above its efficiency limits and actually losing power. The upper limits of a Superman is right around 13250 blower rpm. Anything higher than that results in a great loss in blower performance. What rpm are you shifting at?

We shift the 1-2 at 8400, that's when the clutch gets tothe motor any later and it starts going into shake and shift the 2-3 at 8800
