    Oil tank

Depends on the type of tank you are using, we use a thank beside the fuel tank, about 3" wide and the same outside shape as the fuel tank. Some cars have a tank behind the fuel tank , round like a small drum or square to fit the available space. The outlet is at the bottom usually 1" o/d tube hooked to the pump inlet with a 180 deg. stainless line, return is -12 or 3/4" hard line with hose slipped over to allow for flex, same on the suction line, vent is usually routed into the top frame rail to breath into the puck tank. The vent should have a check valve inline to keep back pressure out of the oil tank if you have an engine failure. The vent line is usually 3/4" also. The filter can be installed on either the pump discharge and back to the engine or installed on the return back to the tank. We run ours on the return, keeps the tank clean , I feel that filtering the clean oil from the tank isn't needed, but keeping junk out of the oil tank saves time during service. The lay out will depend on what pump you are running, but all of them do the same , press the oil system, scavenge the oil from the pan.

I was really just wanting to know how high to mount the tank in relation to the oil pump. I do not have room to put tank beside my fuel tank. Common sense tells me to put the oil tank as close to the pump and as high as practical.(but this looks like crap.)

    oil tank

most tanks sit on the top of the lower frame rails, because most of the pumps have it inlets on the back side of the pump. That's why you need a 180 deg. hard line to plumb to the tank outlet.
