We have a FED with a TFX billet block and a quick drive. the flex plate is 160 tooth with a 12 pitch. any thoughts on a starter, the tilton type that we had on the Chevrolet is going to be to close to the block no matter where you clock it. it also looks like there will be more room on the passenger side of the motor plate witch would be good so we wont have to ad another starter pocket to the bell housing. thanks for any thoughts

We put ours on the driver side on our altered. It's close, but it fits .....we use a 168 tooth flywheel and mini starter.[IMG][/IMG]

we had to use the smaller flex plate because of the new can rules. the converter can, If I remember correctly is 7/58 so we had reactor build a flex plate as big as the can could fit. I looks like meziere makes a starter with enough offset to move the motor and solenoid away from the block and have the solenoid straight down. thanks for the reply

I went passenger side as well. Mine is cast TFX, I drilled the midplate and block on the starter, this setup was for 168 tooth. Now running CSR 163 tooth to fit in Browell can to comply with new rules (couldn't find pics, but looks very similar) . Tight with oil pan, works well though. This pic was taken during mockup.

did you have to relive the pan or the pan rail when you went to the 163 tooth or did you re clock the starter ?

I am right up against the drain plug on the pan, that is my closest interference point. I elongated the lower bolt hole in the mid plate for the starter to both bring it further in and re-clock the starter slightly. Pan rail has pretty good clearance without relieving.
