In their first trip out west, the Snyder Motorsports Race Team sponsored by Powersource Transportation, made their way through a tough Top Alcohol Funny Car field to earn their second National event win of the 2008 season. Driver Mick Snyder, who began the weekend in 10th place in the Lucas Oil National points standings moved all the way up to 6th with the win at the Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals.

“Dad really has this car running well right now; it just keeps getting faster the more we learn. All the countless hours of brainstorming and hard work in the shop are really starting to pay off. I can’t describe how exciting it is to get the win here for so many reasons. After waiting almost 4 years between our first and second National event wins, to earn two in one season is really unbelievable. We have wanted to come out here for a few years now and when we told Skip at Powersource Transportation, he helped make it happen. We couldn’t be here if it wasn’t for all the support he provides our Team,” said Snyder.

The 27 year old driver qualified number two for the event with a career best, 5.56 at 258.86 mph. In the first round, Saturday afternoon, Snyder left first and never looked back running a 5.60 at 256 mph to earn the round win and lane choice over his 2nd round opponent. He ran back-to-back 5.61s at 257 mph in second and third rounds to earn his way into the finals. On a bye run in the finals, Snyder laid down a 5.591 at 258.71 mph to earn his 3rd career National event title.

“There are so many people to thank for the time and effort they have put into making our operation what it is today. Mike and Karen, Brent and all the guys at Spitzer Race Cars built us one amazing car during the off season last year. I am so lucky to be the one behind the wheel to show them what this car can really do. Lenco is also a huge part of our business and our race team. It was awesome to be able to win in their backyard and have Gary there to celebrate with us in the winner’s circle.”

“I am so grateful to be surrounded by such a great group of sponsors and friends that allow us to be out here doing what we love to do. Not very many teams get to end their season on a win. We have all winter to let this one sink in as we get ready for what will hopefully be another good season in 2009.”
