Snyder Ready to Get the Season Underway

After three months off, the Snyder Motorsports Race Team will kick off their 2009 season at the Gatornationals in Gainesville, Florida this weekend. The Team, which headed down to Valdosta earlier this week to get a few test passes in before the event, is looking forward to getting back out there and competing in the highly competitive Top Alcohol Funny Car class.

“What a difference a year makes. Last year at this time we were still putting the new car together. We were trying to sort out a clutch for the first time ever and finalize the paint scheme for our new major sponsor Powersource Transportation. Compared to all that this off season was fairly uneventful. We did make a few changes based on some of the data we gathered last year, so it was really nice to get a chance to make a few laps earlier this week and see the car respond so well,” said driver Mick Snyder.

Snyder, who is coming off his season ending Auto Club Finals win, is trying to make it two in a row this weekend.

“It’s always really exciting when March rolls around and the tour comes to this side of the country. Gainesville has a different atmosphere because so many people are getting their cars out for the first time and everyone is kind of at square one in the points standings. We get to see a lot of our friends that live in other areas of the country that we haven’t see all winter and it gives us a chance to get out of the cold Indiana weather for a few days. Hopefully, at the end of the weekend we will be able to overcome the competition and put Sally in the winner’s circle for Skip, Barb, and all the great people at Powersource Transportation.”
