Runner-up Finish in Charlotte for Snyder

For their final event of the season, the Snyder Motorsports Race Team headed to Charlotte, North Carolina for the Carolina Nationals. Participating in their 4th race in as many weekends, they were hoping to get their Powersource Transportation Mustang in the Winner’s Circle, but fell just shy of their overall goal, earning a runner-up finish in a good final round race.

“We are really happy about the way the weekend went. We have learned a lot over the last month or so that we think will really help us next year and it was great to end the season on a good note too. It seems like we always do well at our last race, maybe next year we shouldn’t put out a schedule so they can all be the “last race” of the season,” said driver Mick Snyder.

The 28 year-old driver, qualified #4 for the event with a 5.64 elapsed time. When the rain began to pour on Saturday evening as they were in the lanes the Team would have to wait until Sunday morning for their first round match-up. They were able to turn on the win light with a 5.74 second pass down the quarter mile and earn lane choice in the next round. After getting a big jump off the starting line in the 2nd round Snyder never looked back and took the win light with a 5.68, the second quickest pass of the session. In the semi-finals, Snyder continued to get quicker crossing the finish line first running 5.62 and earning his way into the finals. In the finals Snyder left first and ran his best time, 5.59, of the weekend but was unable to hold off his opponent.

“Overall, it was a good day. Skip and Barb from Powersource made the trip down, so it was really cool to have them there to share in the excitement. It would have been great to finish it off, but we are very happy with how this car performed this weekend. I can’t believe the season is over, but I am ready to put it behind us, take some time off and spend the winter getting ready for 2010.”
