I have heard that Methanol prices will be at a new time high next season.

Has anyone heard how much it will cost.

    Thanks,

so far vp hasnt raised it alot. 5 a gallon seems tobe the price. check the price of bottle water lately? when you stop to figure the total amount of fuel you use in a season, its not that big a deal. if money is a worry, dont race.;) not trying to be rude, just why worry about the nickels, when you can blow up ALOT more in one pass. :) the price of diesel fuel for towing is getting tobe out of hand.

If methanol cost 5 dollars per gallon I will never run it in any bracket car again. I will go back to gasoline.

You say that now, but have you checked the price on racing gas lately?

At the same octane levels, it's stupidly expensive, and you just lost your built in intercooler.

good racing gas runs about 8-12.00 a gallon. some of the real high end stuff is more than that. alcohol is a good price for the performance you get from it, torque too. if you're not racing to far over budget(we all do) fuel is just another cost. throwing away 20.00 in spark plugs is a waste.

If you are bracket racing, just use the industrial grade methanol. I have used it for the last seven years and have zero problems with it. The last drum I bought was about $2.30 a gallon. I've never had it checked to pass any fuel check but for the races I used it at, there was no checking anyway. You can get it at most any oil supply company. Just my two cents.

    industrial grade

from my experiences with industrial grade methanol, be sure you run a fuel filter and clean it regularly. maybe there are some sources that are better than other, but i haven't had the best luck with industrial grade.

the reason why some brands of methanol are preferred and are better than others is the number of times it is transferred from the original distillery to the drum, and what type of drum it's stored in. each time it's transferred, it picks up contaminants like water, which significantly impact the power the fuel makes. if you don't think a little water makes a difference, why does your car slow down a tenth or more in high humidity. also, ask guys like jim oddy who have tested various purity levels on the dyno.

not saying it's all bad, but buyer beware.

Will, I agree totally. Chemisphere provides purity sheets with every drum we buy, which is the only reason we buy it.
