It is with a very heavy heart that I am asking for thoughts and prayers for one of our crew members, Loren Young. He and his wife Beth crew on both cars and were with John Knocks (froggy fc) before us.
Loren has been diagnosed with cancer of the esophagus, tumors in his shoulder, spine and neck lymphnodes. Please keep Loren, Beth and their family in your thoughts.
Loren and Beth are welcoming any calls, cards, and emails.

    Thanks,
    Kim Parker

    Loren

This is Beth Young. I am Loren's wife and we have been involved with drag racing since the autumn of 1996. We crewed for John Knox on Froggy III, IV, and III.5 until we all retired after the 2003 season. We took 1 year off, almost, and that's when we started crewing for "The Mercedes Shop". Steve and Vera Flansburg, Kim, Randy, and especially Stephany Parker have all been very near and dear to our hearts.
In October Loren was diagnosed with esophageal and bone cancer. He has been receiving radiation therapy since Dec 7th. Yesterday was his first chemotherapy session. He did quite well although today he is feeling some of the side effects.
We will try and see everyone at the Seattle Opener in April and of course we'll be at the Woodburn Opener in May.
I'm am asking everyone to please pray for Loren's full recovery.
We will be at the track whenever possible this year and hope to see everyone that he/we love and care for so much.
Please feel free to email Loren at our home email address-
    elizabeth192@centurytel.net
He/we would love to hear from you.

Loren, I have always looked forward to bantering around with you and your bride at the track. I am hoping for the best. As cantankerous as you are I am sure I will get the chance to give you a hard time many times in the future. Take care, my prayers to you. Dave Germain

Even though we are not a top alcohol team (although closer than ever to being one) we were very fortunate to recieved a lot of help from the Parker's this past year. Without a doubt, the Parker team and everyone associated with them is top notch and we care for them greatly!

I hope that Loren makes a full recovery and please let us know if there is anything we can do on our end.

More prayers are on there way!

Thanks for everyones posts and prayers. Loren had a feeding tube put in Tuesday and feels much better. Beth said its the first time he has felt full in a long time. Maybe he can gain back some of the weight he has lost.
Beth says they are overwhelmed by the calls and emails from the racing family and says thank you.

On behalf of our racing family and crew thank you for caring and taking the time.

I have had the pleasure to know both Loren and Beth from the start of their career in racing. I can honestly say I have seldom found two people that are as much fun on the track as well as off the track. The tailgate parties on the road, the tires we miss or wish we missed.. the Jersey barriers that won....:D :D (There is a story there) only his friends know....The world needs more people like these two. Those too busy to get to know them are really missing out....
I spoke with them this afternoon, they are very positive, (I told Loren to stop the hopeful stuff!!!!:p :p ) that he is going to come through these trying times, He IS going to make it..
As a parting, I told him that he is stuck here with his friends, God's not ready and the Devil is afraid he'll take over.........
With that, I send my warmest thoughts, and prayers to one of the few, I honestly call FRIEND........

    Loren

I've never known a racer not to work hard and do the best he can to win a race. You're the driver here, Loren, and we know you can win this one. Ruth and I are sincerely greatful for the friendship we have had with you and Beth for the past decade. Can't tell you how much it meant to us when the two of you "always" made the effort to come over to our pit to say Hi and chat for awhile and we'll be looking forward to that again in 2007. Our thoughts and prayers will be with you everyday........Ruth & John Evanchuk
