Another Good Performance, Another Quarterfinal Finish for Thacker

The Knoll Gas – Torco Racing Fuels Top Alcohol Dragster driven by Marty Thacker was in Houston this past weekend for the Spring Nationals. The weekend started off well, when the team ran what would eventually be their only 2 qualifying shots on Friday to land in the 5th spot on the ladder with a 5.39 at 265MPH.

“Unfortunately, the Spring Nationals was plagued with “spring showers” this year. We felt good about our qualifying effort, but after having about a day an a half between runs down the track, it was a little difficult to find the tune-up for Sunday. The track was totally different than it had been on Friday. The car ran pretty well, just wish it could have been a little quicker,” said Thacker.

Thacker, one of the best leavers in the class, took out his first round opponent with a great .006 light and a 5.46 at 261 MPH. In the second round, he was a little too quick on the tree when he turned on the red light by just .006.

“We are making progress. We are going to go home and clean up the mess caused from all the rain down here and get ready to go to Indy in a couple weeks. Maybe we will be able to pick up our first win of the season for our great sponsor Knoll Gas – Torco Racing Fuels.”

For their next event the Team will be attending the Division 3 opener in Indianapolis, Indiana, April 13th thru the 15th.
