Nothstein reaches semifinals in Bowling Green
    Just wait until Indy!

Milford, Michigan – After a soggy weekend in Reading, Pennsylvania, Marty Nothstein and the Texas Roadhouse team were looking forward to drying out in Bowling Green, Kentucky, at Beech Bend Raceway Park’s last Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series race of the Division 3 season.

Frank and Dan Parker tuned their 2007 Dodge Charger Top Alcohol Funny Car to an all time team best 5.571, 259.96 run at Reading and Nothstein was itching to repeat the performance at Beech Bend. Instead, the team found a difficult track and some of their less-than-ideal luck from earlier in the season.

Nothstein qualified with a 252.76 mile per hour run – the only qualifier in the 250s – but his 5.846 time held the car to fourth in the field. The first elimination round went well, with the Mopar Hemi collecting the win at 253.52 miles per hour in 5.721 seconds – the top speed of the meet. The semi final looked promising, as Mick Snyder had to replace his engine and was just zipping up his suit as the Texas Roadhouse car sat waiting in the water box. Both cars got good lights, but Snyder’s Firebird, as it often does on poor tracks, crossed the finish line first. The Parker’s gave Nothstein a third 250 mile per hour bullet – 251.44 – but they couldn’t pull out the e.t. The team headed directly for Indianapolis, disappointed about not making the final round, but very pleased to be the only top alcohol funny car to run in the 250s throughout the race.

The weather for this weekend’s Mac Tools NHRA U.S. Nationals looks good, the team feels good and the Texas Roadhouse Dodge Charger is running well. Given the well-groomed surface of O’Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis, the Parkers and Nothstein are looking forward to low elapsed times and even better top speeds. The “Nats” is the biggest, oldest, richest, and most prestigious drag race in the world. The fabled quarter-mile is regarded by many as one of the smoothest on the circuit. And ParkerTech Racing Services is a past winner!
