FOLLOW A DREAM OPENS 2008 with Nothstein behind the wheel

Marstons Mills, MA – Follow A Dream, Incorporated will kick-off its 2008 NHRA Drag Racing Series schedule this weekend (April 25-27, 2008) at the Southern Nationals in Commerce, Georgia. It will be the debut of Marty Nothstein as the driver of the team’s new Permatex/Wynn’s/Texas Roadhouse 2008 Chevrolet Impala SS Top Alcohol Funny Car.

“This weekend is going to be very exciting and challenging for the team,” said Jay Blake, who is the founder and crew chief of Follow A Dream, and is the only totally blind crew chief in the world of motorsports. “Everything is new this weekend, from the car, to new crew members…heck we even have a new hauler!”

“The team worked hard to make sure the new Permatex/Wynn’s/Texas Roadhouse Chevrolet Impala SS Top Alcohol Funny Car will be competitive right off the truck,” added Blake. “The addition of Marty Nothstein also adds to the excitement. As a former Olympic and World Champion, Marty knows what it takes to find the winner’s circle.”

Nothstein will be entering his third season in a NHRA Top Alcohol Funny Car. After a successful rookie season in 2006, Nothstein found the winner’s circle twice during the 2007 NHRA Drag Racing Series season. Marty’s wins came at Bradenton Motorsports Park in Florida in the series’ season opener and then in mid-July at Gateway International Raceway in Madison, Illinois. Nothstein finished 11th in the 2007 NHRA Alcohol Funny Car season points standings.

“I’m ready to go,” said Nothstein, who won the 2000 Olympic Gold Medal in the Match Sprint and tuned-up for the Southern Nationals with an appearance last weekend in the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race in Long Beach. “'I want to get to the top ranks as a driver, and Jay wants to be a Nitro team owner. Hopefully, together, we'll ride to the top.''

This year Follow A Dream will run a 12-race schedule with seven NHRA National events along with five NHRA Division 1 races.
