Mallory super mag 4

Go ahead and laugh im new to this stuff.I bought a Mallory supermag 4 and it came with a box approx. 4 1/2" x 6". It has a switch ON OFF TIME.It has a little charger to charge it. Wiring harness with 2 plugins for the mag and a yellow and orange wire. I havent seen one like it would like to know what I have. Thank you.

 

A mag "buzz box " ?

 

Turn it on and touch the wires, if it buzzes than its a buzz box used to set the timing. Ours is from Don Zig and has a 9 volt battery, no charger, and no "TIME" setting like yours. What brand is this box, several people make them?

 

I hope you didn't buy a gallery mag that uses a points.box controller

 

Its a Mallory.

 

Are you sure it says Mallory IV or is it VI. A Mallory IV only has 2 wires coming out of it. I have never seen a buzz box that had a charger but I think the electronic Mallory's had one for there "electronic "points" box.

 

mallory had a points box type and the down side of it ...it was junk and you cannot get any parts what so ever for that mag, mallory will not support it anymore.Dave
