    October 26, 2008
Summit Motorsports Park is excited to announce the formation of a new racing class to be incorporated into the Door Wars program on the five select Friday nights in the 2009 schedule. Outlaw Dragster will be sponsored by Koffel’s Place, and by David Price Metal Services, and will represent the open body contingent of the wildly popular Door Wars series. The five dates chosen for the 2009 season are; May 22, June 19, July 17, August 14 and September 18. This latest addition to the Door Wars series will provide another reason for Door Wars fans and racers to get more excited than ever about next year. We are including the rules and regulations for the new class so that those interested in preparing for next season have the guidelines to do so.

Exactly what I thought when I read the rules that were passed out at Norwalk over the weekend . Most of the dragsters are lighter than the altereds and they hook better yet they can weigh 200 lbs. less ? . Maybe Koffels blown big block dragster weighs around 1800 lbs. ? .

There have only been 3 altered's trying to qualify in the class so far and two of them were Funny Cars with Fiat bodies so I would presume that is the reason for the altered's weighing what they do in this class to try and keep it competitive with the Top Dragsters.

The above rules you posted only mention 4.90 or quicker in the 1/8th mile so i figured the race was only 1/8th mile . Will the door wars races be 1/4 mile next year ? .

Santo, I would say that you are correct. I didn't hear Bill Jr. announce that over the weekend that it would be 1/8 mile. I was at the last Door Warz/Outlaw Street race of the year and he had announced that all of the heads up classes next year would be raced on the 1/4 mile format. I would go out on a limb and say that they had changed their minds since he had annouced that over a month ago. Your Fiat was running very strong last weekend. Does it have more in it for next year?

Santo, I was at Koffel's Place last Friday and while I was there talking with Scott, he said that Koffel's Place Racing Engines / David Price Metal Service Extreme Dragster class WILL be run on the 1/8th mile format!
