I sheared the roll pin on my mag base with with a MSD 44 on top, chev type.
Has anyone added a key way to the gear and shaft? and still used the pin also.

    thanks,

Was your pin a spiral pin, they are the strongest.

Also look in your oil pump to make sure something didn't get run threw it.

Seen guys shear pins just because of cold heavy weight oil pulls to hard.

Yes it was a spiral type.

The mag drive is off the front of the engine so no oil pump, just a single MSD 44.
I'd like it like a Chrysler hemi key and pin can't locate a shop to do it,,,???

I agree with SoDak. Something caused the shear pin to shear. It is designed to do that. I keyway would cause something to break.

opinion on which is stronger roll pin setup
    1. the double spiral
    2. standard roll pin with another smaller diameter inside it.

I used to run the pin in a pin setup and broke some of them. I went to the spiral and have not broke any of them. I think the engineering books list the spiral as stronger.
