The MSD 12 is supposedly more reliable, there have been a lot of troubles with the 20's.

I have an MSD 20. Been using it for 6 years with out any trouble. It is on a BBC with a mert retro making 45 pounds of boost.

 

Please list the probs that that those have said they had with the MSD20 amp mags , I am just curious . Been hearing it for years and our 20 amp just keeps working . How many people do not carry a spare box and or coil that use any of the msd mags ?. Have sent it to Leahy 2 times when it was suspected of being a problem , he found nothing wrong with it on both occasions .

 

Our motor seemed to start easier with a 20. Is there anyone besides MSD that works on them?

Dave Leahy is the man when it comes to mags, we bought a used 44 amp had him go through it, and we bought 1 new 44amp from msd and we still sent the new one to Dave to have him check it out.
