noticed a neat trick on the TAFC's. have a weak or no roof hatch latch so it opens about 2 inches going down the track. must take a ton of air off the rear deck

I was just glad we made the coverage. Not too often they show first round action but when you get paired up with a hitter like Bucky, you make the highlight reel. Hopefully in Houston and Vegas we will go farther in the action and get a little more airtime.

It was nice to see the top end banter between Steve Federlin and Steve Torrence. Man that run looked scarier on tv than in person.

Great job by Marty and Bob.

A correction to comments made by Bob Frey. He said that 7 out of the 8 Funny Cars in the second round have run 5.50's. Then Bob pointed out that Ron August was the guy who has the car that has never run in the 5.50's.

In the first round of the 2004 Finals in Pomona, August ran a 5.588 against Mert Littlefield. So all 8 cars in the second round have run 5.50's.

The track was very tricky on Sunday as evidenced by the slo-mows of Jays car shaking almost every run. 10-15 feet out the track got greasy. While it was hard to tell on TV, on our 5.65 against Gasparrelli it shook hard enough for the driveshaft speed to hit the roof. The motor slammed the rev limiter before Pete shifted 1-2.

The roof hatch pops when the body goes square during shake. Everyone has pretty much the same latch and they don't just open up for no reason. I'd rather see it stay latched.

I notice John putting duct tape over Manzo's roof hatch right before he went to stage. He then went a .55.
