Would like some input from F/C racers that use neck restraints such as Hans or R3. Thinking about buying one but dont want to spend $1000.00 for something I wont wear. Please give me your input good or bad. Thanks Kevin

    Kevin,

I just bought a HANS from Taylor Motorsports a little while ago - our season is so short up here in Canada that I only got to try it out for the first time yesterday. Worked awesome, was comfortable, didn't even notice it was there by the second run - except when I pulled the chutes my head didn't try to leave my body. Usually am pretty sore in the neck after a weekend of racing, feelin' really good right now! I still wear my neck collar as well; it's a little tight to get on, but once it's on you don't really notice it.

I can't see NHRA and/or IHRA going much longer without it being a mandatory thing...infact I don't see why it isn't already. $1000 is cheap compared to the rest of your life in a wheelchair incase of a mishap. I work as a power tech on power wheelchairs as my occupation, and you couldn't believe the number of people - young and old - that were at one time athletes (hockey players, football players, you name it), and now I put together $12,000 power chairs for them.

I'd recommend a HANS or similar device to anyone!

Anybody, please call me direct if you are thinking about a head and neck restraint. Not only are we a dealer, but I have been wearing one for ove 3 years now. Would not drive without one!
There are alot of missconceptions about the device.
    Dennis Taylor 714 630-7850, thanks.

    Mark,

I'll tell him hi next time I see him, he's only a few blocks away from me. Good to hear our old car is doing well!

I've been wearing a Hans device since before they were available to the general public. I wouldn't go to the starting line without one now. Somehow it got left at the trailer one time and I basically panicked. Fortunately we got it from the trailer in time to make the run. I might have made the run but I definately wasn't feeling good about it. I am amazed at myself how dependant I have become on having it. I too also use the neck collar in conjunction with the Hans device. In my opinion all the other devices are all pretenders. Call Dennis today and get the original Hans device.

PS. They used to cost more but who cares what they cost?

Dennis Taylor sold me one. I will never go back to the neck collar. I found that the neck collar held my neck up and was uncomfortable. The Hans is great. I wanted it just for the safety and actualy has been a treat. I feel that the more comfortable you are, The better driver you are. I thought darn I have to get accustomed to it like the Impact nitro helmet but not this device. I hardly know its there. Its money well spent. There is a dvd to watch on the difference of the hans and the neck collar. I could not beleve how much more of a chance you have durring a crash. I would recommend it to anyone in a car over 1000 hp.
