Looking for a few good Funny Cars and Altereds to form a "Outlaw FC" circuit. Here's what I got in mind:

Alcohol FC's, Match race grade nitro FC's, Fuel Altereds to come in and put on a 8 car Saturday night show. 1/8 mile racing, winning cars need to be in the 3 second zone in the 1/8.

I'm looking to use the same payout I have used with my 8 car dragster shows.

    Winner $4,000
    R/U $2,500
    Semi $1750
    Qual 5-8 $1000

Format: First run is a qualifier. All cars make side by side runs. Quickest 4 qualifiers come back for the semifinals and are paired off for eliminations. Winners run in the finals. Win the race, 3 runs $4,000, worst case, make 1 run $1000.

As far as money for more than 8 cars, it depends on the level of interest.

Rules would be loose to put on a good show. There's not many circuit-grade nitro fc's that will run for this kind of money, but i do know of a few mid 5 second match race grade fc's that would be good for this kind of circuit.

I think performance is a big part of entertaining a modern fan. Just being a loud funny car doesn't cut it. Not for decent money anyway. I think on the 1/8 mile a good running IHRA car should be able to run with the screw cars on these type tracks.

We're at a point in time at 1/8 mile tracks where the 3 second barrier is what the 4 second barrier was to 1/4 mile racing in the late 80's. Throw in the fact the 200 mph mark is right there, going 3's at close to 200 mph is a BIG deal to a local 1/8 mile track fan. I think Funny Cars carry some promotional clout with fans, but there is an expected level of performance there. If this thing takes off, we'll be racing where Outlaw Pro Mods do, and they got guys in the southeast running high 3's on marginal tracks. To impress a fan to pay more than what they do to see a Pro Mod does, you need to out do them on the scoreboard. Side by side 3 second 1/8 mile racing can do that. Some fans will come just to see funny cars. To get the amount of spectators needed to pay for this kind of payout, you have to bring performance.

To make room for the budget guys, maybe a 'B' class with a lower payout. Somewhere around $2000 to win, $1000 r/u, $500 semi, $250 r1

This is some the best money per run around. Depending on travel and where you finish under this format, you should be able to make a few bucks, or being very close to break even. When's the last time you went to an NHRA/IHRA race knowing you wasn't going to be out much when you went to the bank on Monday.

What we're looking at is doing races all the way from Florida to Texas to ???

I need to know who and how many cars would be interested and COMMIT to something like this. Please email me, and let me know what your best 1/8 mile et and mph is (doesn't have to be exact). Also I need to know your combo, where you're located, etc. Once I know I can bring 8-16 FC's into a track on a given weekend, I can start approaching tracks.

Contact me via proracepr@aol.com email please.
