I have never had liner wheels and tires before...only beadlocks. Can someone give me some tips on the best way to get the liner and tire on the rim.

    Thanks!

    Tubes And liners

    1. Get someone that knows what their doing.

    2. Put one side of the slick on the rim, then liner inside of slick and one side on
rim, the tube in make sure the valve assembly goes in correctly, then other side of liner then slick.

I alway do my own, as no-one ever wants to mess w/ them at a tire store  One tip that really helps me is: inflate the tube, and let it sit overnight to 'stretch' it, then deflate and install, they never seem to want to stretch over the rim, especially if they are new. We use all Hoosier stuff, but installed them in M & H slicks

P.S. I agree w/ QuickCut's description, plus one more step: after assembly, partially inflate each compartment, and bounce the tire, then deflate, repeat a couple times to 'settle' it on the rim, or it will be waaaay out of balance :D

make sure you use tire talc with the tube to make sure it doesn't get pinched
we have a 50 year old hand tire machine to break the beads with
i wish i hand a buck for every set of the old goodyears i did by hand
boy was that a lot of work but most places wouldn't touch them years ago

    for reference

There isn't any rocket science to it, just a lot of pain in the ass.

Couple of things that are already mentioned. The tube is a tough part because you're putting a 15" tube on a 16" wheel. Tire talc is a good idea to keep from pinching.

The only other thing is to pay attention how the tube goes in. The valve stem will be slightly indexed to one side. Make sure you line that up with how the hole in the wheel is indexed.

In the field we've used a ratchet strap around the tire to bust it down. The old style big tire tools help.

If you have the time, it's damn near worth the drive to a race or a racing tire dealer to get them done.

Also, spin balancing when you're done is waaay better than bubble balance....:D
