Lightest hemi block

    Who has the lightest hemi block out there.

    BAE, TFX, NRE or CN?

    I believe AJPE has a lightweight alcohol block available. I don't have exact weights for the hemi but my 481 block is about 7 pounds lighter than the standard version.

    Thanks, I know they have a light version. I was told it is 12 -13lb lighter than the BAE block but Noonan has come out with a good copy of the TFX light block and is said to be pretty light weight also.

    It would be great if some guys here had exact weights.

    If the block is lighter at the finish line, probably not a good thing. :D

    I wonder if an engine block could be manufactured from metal matrix aluminum composite (MMC) material? It would be lighter, stiffer, and more thermally conductive, but boy it would prolly be way more expensive !!.........

    FYI the NRE block is not a copy of the TFX block. It has wide pan rails and it's own front cover to run the mag and oil pump off the front. It also has 30 degree angled side bolts on the mains.

    Jamie told me it would be within a pound or two of the TFX Light.

    light weight

    That one eliminated the whole rear main cap area for a good weight savings of about 10 lbs....lol
