Just a quick question. When pluming the air line for the Leahy box what size of air line do you use 5/32 or 1/4 the instruction sheet never says?

Hi wild child, I use 5/32 for everything for two reasons. 1st it is easier to route small line so it does not get in the way of things, but most importantly maybe the small air line feeding the system will slow the air cylinder speed down so it "DOES NOT CUT MY FINGERS OFF WHEN IT SLAMS THE FUEL SHUT OFF HANDLE ON THE BRAKE HANDLE CLOSED". "HA' "HA". Richard Putz Iowa also.

I wondered the same thing, so I swapped the firebottle lever cable on the chassis to the fuel shut off and put the firebottle cable to the brakehandle..then I painted the new fire bottle handle red to hopefully stop the obvious oops..system tested ok
I used 1/4 supply hose so even with the chute air hose dissconnected it will shut off the fuel.
I also ran both 5/32 hoses through the chassis in the bellhousing area..you know they'll tell us to eventually.

Jim, I was wondering the same thing but my feeble mind took it a step further. Here I am motoring down the track, something goes wrong, I reach for the brakes and the fuel shut off handle pinches my fingers and then......I can't get my fingers out to get to the parachute levers. Has anybody had any experience with these air cylinders? How much force do they apply with? Is it going to pinch my fingers or just cut them off? Maybe I have too much time on my hands to think about weird things? Dave Germain

I mounted the air bimba valve off the fuel pump with a teether cble running to it with slack in it so at worse case sinero it would hit the fingers of the driver and bounce of causing no damage.
In a dragster you have no fire bottle handle to switch around. So i needed to do something.
After watching cars kick the panels out on the line I thought holding the brake handle during the could hurt.

    Fingers

Think about this for a minute, Probably 90% of the time you would not have your hand on the brake handle when the burst panels go bye bye. Hence no reason for pinched fingers. Not saying it couldnt happen. Kevin
