I am trying to improve my 60' time. I think the tire is "wadding" up to much at the hit. Any thoughts. Car is 2350 with me, 477 Chevy, 871, 3 speed, 3 disc pedal clutch. The front end never leaves the pavement. Current 60' is 1.12 on a 7.50 pass @ 176

I had the same thing going on with my altered. I saw it in some pictures that a friend took of the car leaving. I went to a taller rear gear, the 60's got better and quit wadding the tire so hard. It seems to "get up on the tire" faster, and holds the front tires up to about the 60-80 ft mark. Just my 2......

i think 5.5 is low i run beadlocks at 6.5 works very well on my car the car needs to get up on the tire quicker more air will help maybe a little more timing leaving a@5000rpms that thing should jump up on the tires

Jim, I just went down to 5.5 from 6.5. It was hazing the tires at the shift's. That went away, and the 60 picked up .02.

I run 5.5 in my beadlocks. I had tire shake issues too but I run a glide. Dropped tire pressure to 5.5, leave around 5000 and set wheelie bars 2 inches high. I have never looked back.

see what 6lbs does if its wadding the tire more than 1-1/2 revotutions there staying wadded up to long you need it get up on the tire as fastest as possible without spinning the tires without knowing how your clutch is set up there is some changes that can help also you may need to put some more base in it and it it spins at the shift you can make some changes on the weight

    Launch Issues

You may try taking a little weight off the clutch, sounds like you are on the verge of tire shake. Taking the air out solved the symptom but not the root cause. Does it haze at all the gear changes?

    My 2 cents

How much are you turning the blower and what is your shift and trap RPM's like? What's the driveshaft rpm at .5 sec?

I agree with Corey take base out of the clutch and add counter if needed to lock up at the top of the gear make the clutch unlock on the shift
