Schedule - Two qualifying shots Saturday Night - 8:30 PM and 10:15 PM
Two Rounds of Eliminations on Sunday Night - 7:30 PM and 9:30 PM

    SOS Rules:

SOS will follow the guidelines set by the 2006 NHRA rulebook

All cars must have engines located in front of the driver.

    All cars must run blowers.

There will be a MANDATORY drivers meeting before Saturday nights qualifying session and Sunday nights eliminations. You will be given the exact time of the meeting when your car is tech inspected. The purpose of the meeting is to pair-up cars for qualifying. Lawren Jones will determine which cars will be paired up (usually FC vs. FC, Alt. vs. Alt.) For the fairness of competition, we will pull for lane assignments. Such as left or right. We will also pull for run order. Such as, 1st pair, 2nd pair, and so forth. Be aware that should we have cars that cannot return for the second qualifier your lane assignments could change.

Saturday Qualifying - SOS provides a show for the spectators. At the same time the racers want the excitement of racing. The track owner wants BIG BURNOUTS and no oil on his track, and of course, the more passes he gets for his dollar the happier he is. Therefore, all cars are required to make both qualifying passes on Saturday. If it is determined that a team is playing possum in order to save parts then that car will not be paid qualifying money. If a car is qualified and is legitimately broke but cannot make the necessary repairs in time for the second qualifying session, then that car will receive qualifying money. If a car is qualified and is legitimately broke but repairs cannot be made by Sunday, an alternate will replace the broke car. The broke car will forfeit $100 of his/her qualifying money to the alternate that fills his/her position.

Performance clause of 7.40 will be in effect. To receive payout money your car must run quicker than 7.40 in one of the two qualifying sessions (special circumstances will be considered).

Sunday Eliminations - The quickest eight cars from Saturday nights two qualifying sessions will race on Sunday. The eight qualified cars will be split into two 4 car fields ( 1-4 and 5-8). The 1 - 4 qualified field will have the #1 qualifier race the #4 qualifier and the #2 qualifier will race the #3 qualifier. The two winners will meet in the final. The 5 - 8 qualified field will have the #5 qualifier race the #8 qualifier and the #6 qualifier will race the #7 qualifier. The two winners will meet in the final. Lane choice and run order will be determined by qualifying position. The #1 qualifier has first choice, then #2, followed by #5, then #6. All cars must stage under power to receive round money on Sunday.

If your car cannot stage under power you will not receive round money. Although SOS is an open competition format, we still have to put on a show. Therefore, should a car win a round but breaks and cannot make the call for the next round, then the quickest loser from the previous round will replace the broke car. The broke car will then split the round money with the replacement car. Please let me know ASAP if you have a problem so that the replacement car can prepare for the next round.

You will have 85 minutes (1hr 20 min) between rounds to turn your car. The timer starts when the parachutes are pulled. Be on time!!!

    Deep staging is allowed.

All cars must be painted. Primer will not be accepted as paint.

Teams will be required to wear shirts of matching colors on the starting line. Examples: Uniform style shirts, team themed shirts, all blue, all black, all red, ect.,…NO WHITE OR GREY T-SHIRTS!!!

Diapers are mandatory. Diapers will be checked before you start your car. Diapers do not have to be SFI certified but need to be made by a reputable manufacturer.

You must bring an oil container for removing your own oil. The track is located on New Mexico State owned land and oil is not allowed to be discarded. You will be checked for your container at tech inspection. Wal-Mart has a good selection of plastic containers at a reasonable price.

All trailers must be parked by 3 pm on Saturday afternoon. No team will park their trailer without the assistance of track personnel. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!

All cars must be tech inspected by 4:30 PM.

ONLY TOW VEHICLES WILL BE ALLOWED IN YOUR PIT AREA. Your crew and guests must park in the spectator parking area. Your crew and guests cannot park on the road in front of your pit area. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO INFORM YOUR CREW AND GUESTS OF THIS RULE.

All teams must have a competent person driving their tow vehicle. Tell your driver to turn off the head-lights when entering the staging lanes. If your tow vehicle is equipped with auto-on headlights please disarm them before you head to the staging lanes. After your racecar has started, your tow vehicle must be pulled to the side so that the next car can start preparing their equipment.
