I have used a kestral 4000 for four years and have had good results. I think it's very handy because you can easily carry it up to the line and get real track side info to make last minute tuning decisions.

    Hi guys,

This spring and summer I will be working with a Product Development Specialist at Kestrel to update the following models to a more drag racing specific focus:

    http://www.nkhome.com/ww/4000.html
    http://www.nkhome.com/ww/4200.html

I am focusing on alcohol, nitromethane &/or nitrous cars, she has another contact that will be helping from a carb'd gas perspective.

What, if any, changes would you make to these weather meters?

    Features added?

    Features removed?

    Thoughts?

    Thank you,
    EDB

Yes, a great little unit that you can stick in your back pocket or on the front seat of the tow car and take trackside readings at the startline. I especially like being able to record the readings for looking at later when downloading the datalogger. It's good for low-buck racers. I can't think of anything that could be changed on it, but someone else might have a few good ideas.

    weather station

I have one and it seems to work good it would be nice if there was an altitude map for major city's I race boats and there is not a lot of info on elevations for the liquid track but the unit works great:cool:

Connie Kaletta had his $4000 unit on top of the trailer go out and some one loaned him a Kestrel. After using it and finding out that the unit matched his big unit once it was repaired, they now use Kestrel. That's enough for me. Wife bought me one 4 years ago as birthday gift. We use nothing else. Even gave away my secret Kinsler air density gauge.
