I called Kendal about a year ago and they (not me) claim the only change to the oil was they dropped the green dye but rumors started flying.

    oil

the "OLD KENDAL" oil is now made by a company called Brad Penn it comes out green as an emerald its not a dye making it appear green.
Brad penn bought out the old Kendal refinery in "BRADford" P.A.
    Its all I will run.

I called both Phillips Conoco (Kendal) and Brad Penn Oil and this is what I found out.

The real story behind Kendal Racing Oil

The original Kendal/Amalie oils were Penn Grade crude oil and were made by Whitco Company (spelling might be wrong) and were refined at the now Brad Penn refinery. Their oil has a greenish hue to it which comes naturally from Penn Crude oil out of the ground plus they added some dye to it as a trademark. In 1997 Kendal was sold to the Sun Oil Co (Sunoco) and it was reformulated using base stock oils from South America being refined in Puerto Rico vice using the better Penn Crude. Green dye was added to it to make it look like the original Kendal Oil. Kendal was then purchased by Phillips and then Phillips merged with Conoco and that is who owns Kendal today. About four years ago Phillips Conoco changed the formulation slightly (so they say) to change the oil from API Spec SJ to SL and at that time dropped the green dye due to contamination of oil tanker trucks used to transport other oils. Everything was going green.

Now Brad Penn does in fact still make their brand of Nitro 70 oil which is still a Penn Grade Crude base and is still green and is an improvement of the original pre 1997 Kendal oil that we all knew. http://www.amref.com/racing/racing-oils.asp

Im using the green oil in an injected alk dragster. This stuff doesnt milk like the others,in fact all you see is alcohol bubbles in it.Weird. No bearing issues, and was setting in the pan since fall and still looks like oil. Just drained it out to check bearings. No,its not going back in,but i dont think it would be an issue. Straight 50W.

According to Kendal that I talked to today they have nothing in their oil to aid in the use of alcohol. All there additives in the Nitro 70 are based on contamination of nitro. They said that they used to use an emulsifier that made the oil go milky but they cut back on it. I do not know what Brad Penn is doing for alcohol contamination. I guess I will call them and find out
