Synoil Car Runs Well In Mission, BC

While Ken Webster and the Synoil TAFC team did make the field at this weekend’s divisional, they will head back to Alberta knowing they let one slip away from them.

After qualifying number four in the field they had lane choice against number five qualifier, Rob Atchison in round one. Webster and co-crew chiefs Ryan and Wally Protz, were looking for a low 5.70 or high 5.60 elapsed time, as conditions were identical to Saturday’s. The car did run a 5.7, a 5.78 second ET, but Webster was real late on the tree- an uncharacteristic .208 compared to Atchison’s .069. Webster continually gained on Rob, but he fell short by the slimmest of margins, a scant .002 (around 6 inches).

“I really let the team and myself down. I can’t explain why I was late,” stated Webster after the race.” It is real frustrating knowing you should have the race in the bag and then this happens. Oh well, we will go into the next event at Spokane and put the past to rest, and go kick some butt”.

Three divisionals are next on the schedule, and then the Seattle National event. The team then really hits the road after that as they travel to Montana before going further east to Indy for the US nationals and maybe Iowa for the divisional there.

The team would like to thank their sponsors including Synoil, Waylan transport, Landale Signs and Neon, Southgate and Hogeson Pontiac, North Gate Industries KEW Services and all their other assoc. sponsors, for all their support.
