The KB Olds block is new to me. The sleeves protrude from the block. When checking for straight, do I measure the tops of the sleeves or the deck of the block? What should the sleeve "stick out" of the block--should it? The sleeves are o-ringed. What is the best thickness for gasket? Anything else peculiar to the block I need to know. Have always used iron blocks, so I want to get this right. JW

The sleeves on my New Century block are .004 proud of the deck. Gasket thickness will depend on your application, comp ratio and clearances. I use a .062 gasket, the piston is .010 down the bore amd the pistons are made for 11:1

I would think that if the block deck was square with a straight edge and the liners were all square to each other you would be right to go

    Hope this helps - Pete
