Aussie Father-Daughter Top Alcohol team all set for racing action in Texas

Rusk, TX – Father–Daughter Top Alcohol favorites, Steve and Kate Harker will take their 4000 horsepower machines into competition at this weekends round five of the Division 4 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event held at Cherokee County Motorsports Park in Rusk, Texas. Kate will campaign Tom Conway's Skull Shine / Torco Racing Fuels A/Fuel Injected Nitro Dragster in the 270mph Top Alcohol Dragster category, whilst father, Steve hopes to continue his domination in the Top Alcohol Funny Car class.

Steve Harker, who not only pilots his 260mph Alcohol Funny Car but is the teams crew chief, currently leads the Division 4 Series after winning round 4 of the series at the Texas Motorplex in Dallas last month and recording two previous runner-up finishes in the series this season. Steve and his team took a much needed break after a consistent showing at the NHRA Southern Nationals in Atlanta earlier this month and are again looking to keep the performance of their Alcohol Funny Car at the top of the field.

“These last few weeks off have been a good opportunity for us to breakdown all our equipment and look for areas where we can develop improvements that will hopefully see this Southern Safety Supply and Lucas Oil '06 Chevy Monte Carlo machine pick up performance on the race track.” Said Harker

On the other side of the tree, rookie A/Fuel dragster driver Kate Harker will make her 7th appearance of the season at this weekend’s event and looks to take further steps in her new career. The Skull Shine / Torco Racing Fuels dragster owned and tuned by the legendary Tom Conway, will be going into the event with a brand new engine combination and both Conway and Harker are excited to see if the tire shake issues that have plagued them for the best part of the season will become a thing of the past. Harker is still looking for her first 1st round win this season and is confident that the team can look forward to seeing much needed improvements in the cars performance.

“I have faith in Tom and the calls he makes with the car. Tom, Shane, my twin sister Diana and I worked hard on servicing the car after the Southern Nationals in Atlanta and believe we may have found our clutch issue but now we also will be looking to see how well we can get the car to perform with the new 96% Nitro rule.” Said Harker

The Aussie assault in both the Division 4 series and NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing National series continues to be a strong pairing in both the Top Alcohol Funny Car and Top Alcohol Dragster categories proving that these two teams will be a force to be reckoned with.

Gates at Cherokee County Motorsports Park open at 8 a.m. each day. Qualifying and time trials are slated to begin at 9 a.m. Friday and continue at 9 a.m. Saturday. Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car will have one qualifying run on Friday, at 4 p.m., and two on Saturday, at 1 and 4 p.m. Eliminations begin Sunday morning at 9. Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car will run first round at noon.
