Jesel Stands welded together

Been meaning to do this for awhile. Big Chief 18 degree Jesel rockers, want to tie the stands together. Will probably DC tig. How big of a piece is needed between them to be successful and anything to watch out for? Just torque the stands in place and get after it?

Ron, I did this on my KB olds Early AJ Heads. Old style Jesel stuff. used 3/8 and 1/2" square steel bar. I tied mine over to the side of the heads as well on 1&7 and 2&8. drilled through the side of the head on the Mill and made a threaded bushing then welded the bushing to the side of the last stand. Just make sure you check for clearance for push rods and Springs when you are done. I had to do some minor grinding for clearance a couple places. I have not had issues or had anything rattle loose yet....
