Breaking news! I'm on a diet to get rid of several of those pesky pounds. I just may make a lap or two at Fontana whenever they open the place back up. Might even run the divisional there if I don't get too scared! Pete will run Las Vegas and the Sonoma races and complete the year.

Dennis Taylor told me if I lose the weight he will give me a new firesuit. It's a long story, but at his request I had to retire my old Simpson suit. You see, he was wearing it when he won his first National Event (2004 Winternationals) because the zipper exploded on his firesuit during qualifying. He wanted me to archive it for him for his memorabilia collection especially since he covered my name up with black duct tape and wrote his name on it with a white paint pen. He didn't want Marty Reed calling him "Randy."

I haven't driven in over 5 years (2001 Winternationals). Before that, it was about 4 long years (summer 1997). The last lap I made I lost to Jay Payne by about 4" which was a great race. While the car has made a half dozen runs in the 5.50's I've never run quicker than 5.82 at 246. I'd like to make a blast in the 5.60's and at least go over 250 once before I keel over just so I can say I did it.

word on the street is that jimmy jones and richard mcclain won't make the event this weekend, and there's a possibility stidham might not make it....

that sucks, was looking forward to seeing that texas tremor with the 41 on it.
