I was surfing the web this morning and came across the Carolina Dragway website (near Augusta, GA). Carolina is an IHRA track that runs 1/8 mile and it is a good facility - not NHRA national event size, but good enough. They had an 8 car booked TAFC show plus 2 Jet FC's and their normal bracket show. The TAFC's were good solid 5.9 to 6.2 second IHRA cars. Low ET was 3.92 1/8th mile (approx 6.01-6.03 1/4)so they were not having to completely lean on the equipment. I do not know what they paid the FC's to run.

Go to carolinadragway.com and click on photos, then IHRA Fox Hunt and I want you to look at a couple of the photos with the crowd in the background - THE PLACE WAS PACKED. I guarantee you that the crowd treated the TAFC's like the pros they really are. And this is in the middle of the south - Pro Mod heaven (no slam on the Pro Mods was intended as I like watching them also).

This is the kind of race that NHRA and IHRA should help their tracks promote (including all divisionals) and if anyone says it cannot be done, direct them to this website. I'll bet that Will's TAD race in Texas packs the house also so Will, make sure you post some pictures of the stands on the web site.

It can be done! My hats off to Dave Smith from the Sacramento Divisional for packing the grand stands, both sides mind you on Saturday night and a good amount on Sunday. He also had a lot of spectators on Friday night as well, however I belief he did not charge spectator admission for Friday. But it brought them back on Saturday and Sunday where they paid. Now if he can use some of that money to improve the traction.
