on Nitromater, someone mentioned the problems the nitro classes are having seem to be popping up on the alcohol classes.

Is tire chunking a recent development or is it something the alcohol cars have had to deal with for a while?

btw, how much does it cost for a set of tires for at top alcohol car?

On some of the sticky tracks we were chunking the 2050 hoosiers but it did not seem real structural, just the excess meat on the outer edge! but still on went the new ones.

    Chunking

    Today 09:19 PM

Eli "terenzio" he didn't ask for your recent dates that you've had ?
The tires are $600.00 a pair and to date we have not had a chunking issue but we only use the tires for up to 20 runs .

Just this weekend, I know of at least 5 A/Fuel cars that ruined at least 2 sets of tires with less than 3 runs on them!

Hoosier developed the 4000 series tires for the BA/Ds (around 2003) since they blistered more tires.
Last year they introduced the new 2055 for the TA/FCs & Pro-Mods, which seems to be a great tire. We have considered testing them on our dragster, but since I'm in the blister crowd, Hoosier doesn't think its a good idea.
The AF/Ds mostly run Goodyears, so that's probably why they're having problems. Hoosier makes a 36" tire, but it hooks to hard and the AF/Ds struggle to get enough wheel speed early with them.

    Have a great day,
    Marty

PS. We run our Hoosiers between 12 to 20 runs, then switch them to keep the best rubber on the ground.
