If you don't run water, i rec'd the cheap ones from good vibrations. We got 10 sets of each thickness last spring and they've worked well for us.
As far as thickness goes, that is determined by your port alignment from intake manifold to cylinder head. Thicker will raise the manifold port.

Felpro 1275S3 steel core gasket works good for me.

I thank all who respond to my question, but I have another part which is the intake bolts continually loosen up. I set them to torque, same result as overtorquing. any suggestions?

If they are tight to start with I'd check these things as these have happen to me over the years:
1-make sure that when the bolts are getting tight they are not up against the end of the bolt slot in the intake manifold, use different gasket thicknesses to get away from this (keep in mind this changes port alignment)
2-detonation, too much timing and/or not enough fuel
3-I had a clutch out of balance 1 time just enough to loosen many things, including intake bolts

Same here. I install put heat in it and retorque. Have not had any bolts come loose still tight when we tear down in the winter

One other thing--in aluminum heads, make sure the threads are not getting worn out. Otherwise, probably detonation if they are not bottoming out. I have always used FelPro 1275 on our BBC combos, using 3M weatherstip contact cement to attach to the head. This makes removing the intake fairly easy without destroying the gasket. JW
