Anyone purchased anything from Bill Simpson's new company? I just ordered some pit shoes via the internet. They can't be any worse than the crap simpson is selling. The simpson shoes are cheap junk.

I have the Nitro helmet and the cam lock belts from Impact. I love the helmet for several reasons. I really like the lower eye port because it helps me see a little lower. The air flow coming from the top of the helmet helps keep my glasses from fogging as easily. The head sock is also cut to better fit the shoulders and doesn't wad up so much.

The seat belts also have a nice feature that you pull up or inward on the lap belts to tighten them. I haven't actually used the belts yet, but I will let you know more shortly. Good company. That's my .02, hope it helps.

I just got my order from Impact. The shoes I purchased look and feel great. They actually have a little support unlike the simpson pit shoes, and they look cool, too! Check out the web site. www.impactraceproducts.com

i wear the same model simpson pit shoe not because of comfort, because thats what i'm used to reading the track with. they hurt like hell after a long day of standing or walking, but i have been wearing them since day one of my crewing. so every track i've ever stuck my foot to, i've had those thin soled simpsons. if i'm wearing thick soled shoes ie tennis shoes or my CAT work boots, its much harder to tell, for me anyway. so i have a mental database built on those shoes. if impact makes a similar thin soled shoe, i might try them.

on the upper scale of that database is when the track actually rips the sole of the simpson off. i've had two times that's happened - indy final in 2000 and chicago q3 saturday morning in '01. thats the '10' on my scale... :D the opposite end of the spectrum was hallsville in 2000, round 1. 165 degree track temp in august. it was a little greasy. :D

Will, I've been wearing those same peice of shit simpson shoes. They are hell on your feet after a long day. The Impact shoes have a thicker sole and much more comfort. They also have a tread design that seems comparable to the simpson shoe.

Anyway, I'm not a shoe salesman so I guess I should quit promoting these shoes, but I'm really tired of wearing the same peice of shit uncomfortable simpsons.

Like everyone else I wore the Simpsons for many many years. After a long day my feet would be killing me. At Houston last year I bought a pair of the Oakleys and have never put a pair of Simpson back on. I would need to buy a new pair of Simpsons every year because wore out so fast. The Oakleys are the most comfortable, best wearing and coolest looking shoes out there. They will set you back a fair amount, but you will agree its the best money you spent in a long time. Just remember how much time we spent standing around in the rain waiting to see if they were going to let us make a run after the Pro sessions. Do your feet a favor get the Oakleys.
