Approximately 20% of the "air" is oxygen.
Is there a way to calculated the impact of smog in a giving day, knowing that "air" may only have, between 12 or 15 % of oxygen near large cities ?
    Thanks,
    Charles Stewart

Charles, I don't have an oxygen monitor but I have noticed race tracks where my car doesnt run as good as others despite equal density altitudes. I have always wondered if some have more O2 than others. Dave Germain

Seems to me that 2 blown cars on the starting line of some tracks create their own bad air/smog. Bowling green comes to mind.

Thank you all for your answer.
You made a light turn on in my mind.
I'm only on the wrong side of the equation.
    Sorry.
Why measure smog...while I just want to know the % of oxygen available at a specific time.
    Take care,

I've always found that Seattle's air is better than the gauges indicate (trees again).

O2 monitor can get from most industrial supply stores
used a lot for confined spaced monitoring

    Hi John,
I looked at a couple of oxygen sensor for closed space monitoring but I'm not sure of the quality of the information if we work with, for outdoor oxygen reading, especially regarding the impact of "water vapor".
I saw one model on the net " PureAire" that could monitoring outdoor reading, but is no longer available.
    Thanks,

    O2%

    normal air is aprrox 20.9%
if the percent drops to 19 you are now unconcious
    at 16% your dead.
