IHRA has announced the return of Nitro Funnycar for 2006 and apparently a three year deal. On one hand it is great to have that category return after a thirteen year abscence and I commend IHRA and Evan Knoll for making it happen. On the other hand the concern now is, should we even bother wasting our breath lobbying IHRA to return to a 16 car field in alcohol funnycar? Oh yes, Aaron P. stated that A/FC will remain a Pro Class. (As it should be in both sanctions!, dragster too in NHRA!). The average number of cars that showed up for the hallowed 8 spots was 15.9 throughout the season. I guess if a person wanted to look at the situation from a glass half full point of view, they would need some more cars as time fillers between the Nitro rounds.

i would be willing to be that there is NO WAY the IHRA will ever allow injected nitro in ta/fc again. remember a few years back when Scott Weis ran his car? i think he ran 70's back then when the blown cars were in the 80's. if someone did it now, with all the new technology available there is no doubt that they would dominate the class. the guys have only had the a/fuel cars figured out for a couple of years now, as far as the consistency side of it goes. put that knowledge to work on a f/c, and you will have another NHRA TAD class on your hands.the way i see it is as long as you have 2 different combinations in ANY class you will never truly have equality. there used to be about 10 different combinations that you could run in TAD, different weight breaks, etc. wedge heads got a break over the hemi, nitrous got a break over the wedge, and on and on. now, we basically have 2 choices ...blown hemi, or injected nitro. why is that? the sanctioning bodies hate to police these classes that have diversity between the engine combinations. what it all boils down to is 2 combinations means someone will always have an advantage. i wish it didn't have to be this way, but unfortunately it is. just my 2 cents

An interesting thought but I have to agree with Hemi Altered 378, it'll probably never happen. However, if it did I'd do two things, list all my blown stuff on this great websites classified ads and the second would be a call to Michael Gunderson.

good question since they allow injested nitro diggers in top fuel. But their certainly has been no suucess by them in top fuel.

I bet they will allow it
