Congratulations to Roger Bateman and team for their outstanding performance this weekend at the IHRA Rocky Mountain Nationals in Edmonton. Roger ran an amazing string of 5.60's at 4000 feet plus altitude to win the event.

Also congrats to my buddy Rod Elliot for a great win in Pro Nostalgia Funny Car. Rod waded through a bunch of tough rounds in the 16 car field, and his Aria hemi ran big mile per hour (198 vs. 163) to run down Ed Plazier in the final by only .004 seconds.

Ken; I followed the coverage, but still don't know if you guys ran NHRA screw rules for the "exhibition" class, after IHRA put the class in the shi**er?

Yep, it was an NHRA rules deal.

I guess if they don't have any more "NHRA Rules" TA/FC races that makes Roger the 2009 IHRA TA/FC champ.:D

That would be sweet for Roger, wouldn't it?

Actually, I think Rob Reeves (owner of the Edmonton track) put this deal together. I did hear rumors, however, that there might be an alcohol screw blower funny car class for IHRA in 2010.

You would hope so since they screwed the AFC teams into getting screw blowers if they want to run and be competitive this year in NHRA. I'm not so sure IHRA will even be around in 2010. You guys up in oiler country experienced the highest car count of the season for an IHRA race because of the "exhibition" classes, which is awesome, but I don't think it will save their season.

Congrats on the win! Hopefully the IHRA lets the screw blower cars run the whole season next year.

after the kick in the nuts that IHRA gave all of the alky racers this year.....if they had a class for screw blowers next year that would be the last place i would race. just my 2 cents

I agree with you Darren, I wouldn't go way out east anyway, but I will still race here in my back yard if they continue to run the class.
