Howdy - Dumb question here. I read recently on another (nostalgia style) board that some folks are running as much 75 degrees advance with their blown (6-71) nitro cars.

Does this also apply to A/FD's and other nitro fueled cars or just that type of combination the NFC guys are using with the limited blowers, pumps and mags?

Just curious. I don't know very much about nitro but would never have guessed 75 degrees in my wildest imagination.

Yes nitro methane cars use that much advance because it is such a slow burning fuel. The NHRA rev limiters used on Top Fuel cars are taking 50 degrees of timing out of the motor if they get over a certain rpm.

most a/fuel dragsters are running static timing anywhere from 55 to 65 degrees. i've seen things get real ugly above that....

i was working with rudy when he tried 66 and it blackened and spun 4 mains....
