Hunter Begins Two Weeks of Racing in Las Vegas‏

G_Hunter Chicago.jpg LAS VEGAS (March 28, 2013) – A month has passed since Greg Hunter and the Kenny Gilmour-tuned ExactAir Compliance Systems Top Alcohol Dragster last raced down a quarter-mile racetrack. A disappointing first round loss at the season-opening Winternationals is behind them and they’re ready to start fresh at this weekend’s NHRA Lucas Oil Series regional event at The Strip at LVMS.

“We’ve had lots of time to go over everything and make sure the car is ready for two weeks of racing in Vegas. There was an unfortunate parts failure that cost us a first round win at Pomona so we made sure that issue was cleared up. We’re really happy with the direction that the new motor combination is going. We’re confident that it’ll run well and help us qualify well and win a few rounds,” claimed Hunter, a sophomore in the TAD class.

This weekend’s race is more than a LODRS regional event. It’s an opportunity for Gilmour and the ExactAir team to get a feel for The Strip before the upcoming SummitRacing.com Nationals, April 4-7.

“The ability to make runs and get some data on the track leading up to the national event is valuable to us. It’s going to be important to make good runs in qualifying and go as far as we can into eliminations. We want to build up momentum so we can put together two solid weekends of racing,” Greg said.

Racing at a high-caliber facility like The Strip adds to Hunter’s optimism for this weekend.

“It puts you in a good frame of mind going in. I’m comfortable on the track; I’m used to it. We’re familiar with the track surface and the staging lanes. Being comfortable there, I think helps us focus on what we’re there to do; go fast. Everybody’s comfortable there, we like it. It’s a great place to race. We see lots of friends and fans from Canada at this race. It’s just a good race for everyone.”

Three qualifying sessions are scheduled for 3, 6, and 9 pm on Friday, March 28. First round of eliminations begins at 4 pm Saturday afternoon.
