we have had that samething happen to us...and it was tight..Ihavent changed anything since, it did bend a push rod but it didn't hurt the rods..
Just remember 2 different motors, I would check the rods..but I think you will be ok...as far as why the adj. cam loose don't know why. Dave Lowe

We have had the same problem in the past. You ouldn't believe how tight we tighten them now. Dad broke the valve adjusting wrench tightening them a while back. How tight should they be?...tighter than you think!

Maybe someone should invent a torqing valve adjuster wrench?

I wouldn't worry about 65 pounds of boost harming the rods. I would only check the rods in the cylinders that bent valves. The rest are fine.

    35 lbs

like kosky says...conway taught me to torque the adjuster nuts to 30-35 lbs. i haven't seen it effect the lash, so you can just go over them before you make a run.

While at Rt. 66 Stood in Ron Capps's pit area and there crew set the valves and then went back over the adjusters with a torque wrench. Not sure what they torqued them at but they did torque them. Kevin

one of the problems with tensoning the ajusters is that they can pull out of the rocker and between rounds that can be a problem.
