How do you set up a top loader ?

Okie doke...just got my hands on a 9 in toploader & now have the carrier & goodies to switch it from a 35 spline to a 40 spline 2.90 gear ...1st problem is that the pinion won't fit down in to the case because its a 2.90 , do I just machiene the case till it fits ? next question is what are these special set up tools I'm hearing about & where do I get them ? can't find many " how to " articles when it comes to setting these things up . thanks

 

I got all my info and tools from Strange but that was seven years ago. I think they still sell these units so they must have everything you would need.
