Hi-Def Hambridge Hunting a Win in Sydney

Having raced only the two rounds at his home track this season, you might expect Team APM racer Aaron Hambridge to be taking a slow and steady approach to this weekend’s Karcher Nitro Champs presented by Shannon’s.

Thanks to the newly expanded and improved coverage on the ONE HD service, the reality of the situation could not be further from the truth.

Team APM is turning up the heat and bringing some serious dragster firepower to the track this weekend for an event to be seen in stunning high definition across Australia.

Aaron not only has an event win in his sights, but he will also be chasing down his own Top Alcohol national elapsed time record that he set at last year’s season finale – the Winternationals. If recent testing is anything to go by, there’s every chance both ends of the Top Alcohol Dragster record could take a tumble.

“We ran the car at WSID a couple of weeks ago and with the track in good condition and some good air we managed to go significantly quicker and faster to half track than we’ve ever been before. If everything comes together on the one pass this weekend I’m confident of running a really solid number.”

That’s what it will take if recent performances by some of the big names of the sport are anything to go by.

“We’re never complacent no matter who we’re up against. Anyone who makes the field can knock you out on any pass and you have to be on top of things to make the final and stand any chance of taking the event win. We’ve won in Sydney before and know what it takes to win so that’ll be our aim.”

When it comes to that national record, Aaron is a little cagey, saying only that the car is capable and that the driver has to do everything right for it to happen. If the knowing look in his eye is anything to go by, you’re going to want to keep all eyes on the Team APM Dragster as it takes to the WSID quarter mile this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
