Wanting to switch to Hemi alum rods instead of BME 6.7" bbc chevy size in a Rodeck 481T block with 4.25" crank . How much clearancing is going to be needed? Like the Idea of the stronger rods for blown setup.

We have a very similiar setup but in a cast iron Big M block. We have the BME 426 rod, it takes a fair amount of oil pan rail removal...

I sent a rod to BME to compare and than they made one of theirs and sent it to me to check it out. Of course its not free, but we went with them so we already had one rod made

We also use a Hemi rods in our BigM block chevy. I use the GRP rods, as stated you will need to remove a fair amount from the pan rails (I use a steel pan and had to add notches in it also). Plus there is material removal needed at the bottoms of the bores also. But it can be done. I use a stock position cam and there is plenty of clearance.

Thanks for the info guys I will probably get the single rod for clearance purposes. Hopfully I won't be having to cut too much , I don't want to go to a shorter crank throw. It is a solid Alm block so loosing block strength shouldn't be much of concern I think .

we ran Brooks B2 and venolia in a 10.2 rodeck with 4.25 stroke. The block will be lighter when you're done! A lot of notching on the bottom of the cylinders if memory serves.

Keep in mind the hemi journal makes a stronger crank and allows higher bearing loads. The rodeck will probably fail before you overload the std BBC journal.
