What would cause oil to shoot out of the back of a fresh KB Hemi when it is put in gear? I recently put a spare 526 KB Veney in last weekend to make a race. Upon starting it, It didnt leak oil until I put it in gear. Then it leaked ALOT of oil out the back of the motor.....New to Hemis and never seen this before. We plan on pulling the rear main this weekend to check it out. Just wondering if anybody else has seen or had this issue.

Are you sure it is coming out the back?

I have seen and had major leaking at rear of heads - result is lots of oil at back of motor

Found that the index on the sleeves not cut deeper after machining deck and holds gasket up thus not sealing oil passages.

Allegedly not uncommon - a friend found on forum the fix is to put a bead of silastic around oil passages each side of gasket.

    No more problems since

If the crank is gun drilled, check the plug in the rear.

    oil leak

had this problem ,money shot , has your kb been line bored/honed just prior? one of ours was by a different shop ,result was seal was not centered to crank ,therefore seal would leak a fast drip to small stream(seal lip facing oil) an insert has to be made to bring it back,kb use to have them ,not sure if able to get now.if it really pours or could be the crank plug like was mentioned but I didnt get pass putting oil in engine, but didnt have flywheel on when that happened to me,so could be.
