I have a 94 GMC topkick with a Cat & 6 speed. The damn e-brake will not release, I:eek: think its frozen. (ice). The e-brake is the type where you pull a switch on the dash- you can hear a motor run but it still will not release. This only happens when its really cold out. I have to get my car certified tomorrow!!

    Any ideas are appreciated.

    Thanks Jon

the motor you heare running is the emergency back up pump in case the engine stops the motor pups fluid to the system so you have brakes if it has drum brakes releace the e brake with the wheels chocked get under it and knock the shit out of the drums at the rear they are bad to draw moisture when they are warm and when it sets the brakes freeze to the drums but first check the fluid level in whatever reservior the lines that hook to that motor the fluid may be too thick or the wrong type it could use trans fluid or power steering fluid if all else fails get a couple of heat guns hair driers and heat the valve and the reservior pump ect give me a call I am a diesel mechanic and gear head by night 918 271 0154 craig

Is your brake sys air or Hyd. if there air and you live in the cold you might have water in the air lines what you would need to do is take and put some Alcohol in the sys to thraw out the lines. if its air how offen do you drain the air tanks, do you have a air dryer on the truck it might need rebuilt, but like Craig said they might just be froze to the drums make sure you block the wheels before you get under it and try to release them
do not if they are air brakes and setup try and take any of the clamps off the brake chambers there is a spring in them that will hold up a 1967 Chevelle front end with a BB in it
