I know its the norm to pull the clutch out and grind the discs and floaters after every run, but is it neccesary? I ran an experiment with my funnycar this year. I have 20 runs on the clutch and have not ground it it since it was new. This last weekend at Denver it ran a 6.20,6.17 and 6.16 @ about 10,000 ft.correct alt. air. Seems to have good consistancy .Would it be different if it was going 5.60's? Has anyone else tried this or is it monkey see monkey do?

It depends how hard you are on it.. in 10,000ft DA, you aren't going to punish the thing like you would running 5.50's in 2,000ft. The discs normally aren't the problem, the floaters are. With enough slippage and the discs wearing, the disc will cut itself into fresh material. The floaters tend to warp, though. If they push far enough, you'll be running on an 8" clutch on one side of the floater and a 10"/10.5"/10.7"/11" with a quarter inch wide pad on the other which will become pretty unpredictable.
