    Update on Gary Stroud

At about 7:00pm EST, Don Stroud called to let me know that Gary's condition is Grave. The next several days will be needed by the doctors to get a proper picture of his condition and prognosis. His skull has been opened and a tube inserted to relieve the spinal fluid pressure on his brain and there are fractures in his pelvis, and ligament damage to his legs....all inoperable. Don and his family are staying at the Hospital and nearby hotels. He is well aware of the power of prayer and seeks yours. He has asked me to thank you all for your kindness, prayers and emotional support.
Gary will remain medically paralyzed. He is in a coma. Bobby Bennett and his photographer Rodger Richards called today to make preparations to establish a Fund to help Gary defray the tremendous costs he and his family will necessarily endure while they are at his bedside. I will be preparing the necessary paperwork to establish a trust account with our law firms bank and will make sure that any funds received will be given to the benefit of Gary and his family. Details will follow.

Got this off another web site Great News

Gary Stroud Comes out of Coma

    July 31

Gary Stroud continues to make excellent progress, and as of early Wednesday, he is out of the coma, looking around and mouthing a few words.

According to Stacey, doctors took Gary off the coma-inducing meds Tuesday morning, and the family, determined to bring Gary out of the deep slumber he has been in for two weeks, worked with him all day.

On Wednesday, their efforts really paid off when Gary opened his eyes, reached up, wrapped his arms around Stacey's neck and gave her a big kiss. She is happy to report she got a bunch more kisses during the day.

Gary has been moved to a double room, which, while still part of the intensive care unit, is larger and more convenient for his family, and they are now allowed to visit and stay with him all day long.

He has been responding to voices, holding up fingers, etc. when asked to, and mouthing a few words. Doctors plan to try and have him sitting in a chair very soon, and will begin speech therapy for him as well. From there, further physical rehab regimens will be started when Gary is up to it. One leg and his knee that were injured in the accident are healing on their own, but the other leg will require a cast for a period of time.

Gary has had a slight bout of pneumonia, as expected, but it has responded well to treatment, and it appears to not be a major concern.
