Ken Lowe Race Cars has an assortment.
Google Ken Lowe Race Cars and click on "Tanks, Fittings and Connections" and then scroll down. Dragster, Funny Car and Altereds.

Nicest one I've ever seen was the carbon fiber job on Jeff Burnet's car. It had a really neat filter/breather system. I'm not sure if it's a one-off piece or he offers them for sale. Much nicer than the big aluminum coffee can types. My experience with the McKinney usints is they can tend to spray oil even when emptying them every pass and fully draing them is difficult.

How large should a puke tank be on a blown alky car? For each side or both combined.

We built one that has 4 inner rolled sections of perforated aluminum screen(090 dia) inside (coffee can type) and the oil just collects on the screens as the pressure has to go from the outside to the center to get to the filter tube, which is solid tube with only the top slotted to an area of like 1 inch. it never makes any real mess. the filters just get a little oily.

    Puke tanks

Spitzer makes one that works good. His is a 2 piece deal. The first section is the puke tank with a drain plug the other is a catch tank. It all fastens togeather which make is easy to clean. About the only thing we get in the catch pan is small amount of water which is from the heated vapors turning into liquid.

How much capacity do you need for each tank? What about inlet and outlet sizes?

We like a tank that will hold 14 quarts of oil, 2 pistons, 1 rod, and 2 lbs. of misc. parts. :p

So the inlet and outlet must be big enough to pass these items or do they just blow a new hole as they come in?:D

    puke tank

Sptizers are about 8 quarts in the main tank with 2- 1/1/4" inlets. It has internal baffling and has a 1 1/4" x 3 opening in the bottom for vapors. It also has a drain in the bottom. The bottom catch pan is also about 8 quarts and attatches to the bottom of main puke tank. Hope this helps. You can see a picture on his website. www.gospitzer.com

fuel tank vent and puke tank

FYI while it is not a common practice, do not vent your fuel tank or put a fuel tank overflow line into the puke tank. Fire from a burned crankcase getting into the puke tank and fuel tank fumes getting into the puke tank do not mix. They ignite.
