Hey guys just wanted your opinion on something. This year i'm going to be tuning with a high speed lean out (i'm new with the high speed, I know it's scary isn't it). I know the high speed is adjusted by washers to change the psi as to when it releases. Would it be wise to install a fuel pressure gauge to see what pressure i'm running at to make sure it comes on when I want it to? I'm running an 80-A pump, hat and port nozzles, SBF w/ 871. Blown alky of course :) Thanks...

You don't have a gauge on your fuel system at all?

If not, then I would definately add one.

Well I forgot to ask, how much pressure does a system like that have? So I know what sensor range to buy, 0-15, 0-30, etc...

I dont run a blower setup but would think that you really should have your pump flowed so you know how much pressure it has and at what Rpm its at so you will know when to have the high speed open up. Say you put the pressure at 90 lbs and your pump dont make 90 lbs it would never work

you can also go with electric controled hi-speed , set in the 6300-6700 rpm range , then you don't have to play with pressure .

Josh, What type of car do you run the SBC in and what kind of luck have you had with the cylinder heads staying sealed between the center cylinders? Thanks.

Actually I have had my pump flowed, but that only told me a psi at a certain rpm...actually it didn't. It said like 7gpm at 4000...so maybe I should get it flowed.

I actually run a small block ford w/ 871 stripped in a 3400 lb 68 mustang. About 20 lbs of boost. I've had great luck with no blown head gaskets so far, however I just had it bored to 4.125, so we'll see this year.

just my 2 cents but the pump sounds really small for that size of blower and hat and ports!!!! also you need to built a gauge with a regulator on it to set up you port checks and also you hi speed. the gauge will tell you were it pops at. i have a guy in tulsa ok. that builds a real trick gauge set. you can get it with a 1 gauge barrel valve gauge to set the b valve and ect.

I would get the 100# liquid filled AutoMeter gauge. You should be fine with that, I would be highly surprised if your system presure was higher than that.
